Back in 2013, WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson saw his last mandatory defense fulfilled, when he knocked out challenger Tony Bellew.

Nobody could have guessed, that Bellew would then jump up in weight by 25-pounds to become a world champion and major player in the cruiserweight division.

And then even fewer would have guessed that Bellew would move up in weight even further, to heavyweight, to score two knockout victories over David Haye.

 

To this day, the loss to Stevenson was the last time Bellew tasted defeat.

But if they fight again, regardless of weight, Stevenson believes that he would score yet another knockout victory.

"Tony Bellew needs to get a rematch because when I lost, the first thing I knew I would do is get a rematch and knock him out - and did," Stevenson exclusively told Sky Sports.

"You have to fight again the guy who knocked you out, except me! If I fight Bellew again, I am going to knock him out again. It would be exciting, though."

Following his recent rematch win over Haye at the O2 Arena in London, Bellew called for a showdown with former light heavyweight champion Andre Ward.

Stevenson highly doubts that Ward, who retired last year, would ever consider taking that fight. He says Ward - who held three world titles at 175 - was never interested in facing him to unify the entire light heavyweight division.

"Ward might want to fight Bellew, but he certainly doesn't want to fight me," said Stevenson.

"When he had those titles, we tried to unify the division with him, and he just retired. I would like to fight in the UK. I don't have a problem with coming there for this fight. I am going to knock him out in the UK. I have lots of UK fans, so I will come and do it again. Eddie Hearn has got our number, so he can negotiate with Al (Haymon)."
