World Boxing Council lightweight champion Devin Haney will defend his title against former multi-division world champion, Yuriorkis Gamboa, on Saturday, November 7, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, in Hollywood, Florida.
Haney and Gamboa, showing their commitment and professionalism, took part in the WBC's 30 day weight protocol. Both boxers, who fell within the required 30 day limits, submitted proof of their weights to indicate that they are in top condition.
According to the sanctioning body, Haney came in at 143 pounds, while Gamboa was three pounds heavier at a reported 146 pounds.
Haney (24-0, 15 KOs) returns to action for the first time since November 2019, after injuring his right shoulder, when he defeated Alfredo Santiago in the first defense of his belt in Los Angeles.
Devin underwent successful surgery on the injury and has since been medically cleared to resume his quest to dominate the lightweight division.
Gamboa (30-3, 18 KOs), a former Cuban world champion and Olympic gold medalist, is seeking to become a three-time world champion in his third attempt, after unsuccessfully challenging Terence Crawford and Gervonta Davis.
The Cuban fighter was in action back in December, also at 135-pounds, when he was knocked out in the twelfth round by Davis, as they fought for the vacant WBA "regular" title.
