Antonio Orozco: record, next fight and profile →
It's as classic a scenario as you can ask for a crossroads bout. Antonio Orozco is a super lightweight on the rise, going up against his toughest test to date. Humberto Soto is a grizzled veteran boxer still with plenty of fight left in his career. Tonight, they collide in the televised opener on HBO, live from the famed StubHub Center in Carson, California.
The weights are in for Saturday's HBO televised doubleheader from the StubHub Center in Carson, California. In the headline event, Lucas Matthysse (37-3, 34 KOs) of Trelew, Chubut, Argentina and Viktor Postol (27-0, 11 KOs) of Kiev, Ukraine, compete for a vacant 140-pound title belt in a 12-round super lightweight fight. Both fighters weighed in at 139.4-pounds.
35-year-old Humberto Soto (65-8-2) is fully focused on his upcoming HBO televised bout against Antonio Orozco (22-0) that takes place at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. The fight serves as the chief support underneath the Lucas Matthysse-Viktor Postol main event. A win over Orozco would likely lead Soto to an even bigger fight in the future. Soto has faced Matthysse before and even though he was stopped, Matthysse gave the Mexican credit and said that he was one of the hardest punchers he has faced.
There were a few bumps in the road in getting to this point, but Antonio Orozco is finally ready for his HBO debut. The camera-friendly super lightweight from California hardly get a soft touch, as he faces durable veteran Humberto Soto in a dangerous crossroads clash this weekend at StubHub Center in Carson, California. The bout serves as the televised opener to a vacant title fight between Lucas Matthysse and Viktor Postol.

He was scheduled to face prospect Frankie Gomez in May but Gomez didn't come close to making weight and the fight was scratched. He was then scheduled to face Raymundo Beltran in June but Beltran's drug test results from his May 1st bout came up positive for a banned substance. Jose Felix Jr. was ready to step in for Beltran but Soto suffered an injury in his camp which put Soto back on the shelf.
