Danny Green To Face Konrad on 12/2, Wants Mundine

Veteran boxer Danny Green (34-5, 28KOs) is to fight Germany's Konni Konrad (22-2-1, 11KOs) in December but his eye is still firmly on arch rival Anthony Mundine. Green made a successful return to the ring after snapping a near three year layoff by picking up a win over Argentine Roberto Bolonti in August. He announced on Thurday he will face Konrad - who last month lost to WBA "regular" light heavyweight world champion Juergen Braehmer - in Melbourne on December 2.

Before I get into my analysis of Australian boxing I'll clear a few things up: • A meaningful fight is defined as one that: o Has four- or more stars on Boxrec.com; o Is for a meaningful title; o Is an eliminator or against a Top 10 opponent After watching Joel Brunker’s performance versus Josh Warrington over the weekend—a performance best described as watching someone try to throw punches underwater—I decided this was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I’ve had enough of seeing my countrymen rack up easy wins against opposition that wouldn't be fit for a local amateur show and somehow gain lofty rankings until it's time to go cash out against an overseas legitimate opponent.

Anthony Mundine (47-6, 27KOs) has announced that he will defend his WBC silver junior middleweight title against Charles Hatley (25-1-1, 17KOs) in Melbourne on November 11. Mundine has not fought since upsetting previously unbeaten Sergey Rabchenko last November. Hatley has won eight in a row since getting stunned in the first round by Lanardo Tyner in August of 2012.

Green dished out plenty of punishment, particularly to the body of Bolonti, but his opponent, whose record is now 40-4, went the distance against the former IBO cruisweight and WBA light-hevyweight world champion.
