Anthony Joshua told Andy Ruiz to "bring a good fight" for his United States debut after the pair weighed in ahead of their meeting at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

The British fighter was all smiles as he stepped out in New York City to a great reception from his travelling fans, continuing to grin as he shared a word with Ruiz.

Asked what he had said to his opponent, Joshua told Sky Sports: 'Bring a good fight tomorrow, please! That's what I said. Just bring a good fight tomorrow - and good luck."

Joshua tipped the scales at 17 stones and nine pounds, while Ruiz was a heavy 19st 2lb.

But the IBF, WBA, IBO and WBO heavyweight champion was not concerned by the weights as he looked ahead to getting in the ring with Ruiz.

"Your weight, your training camp, put that aside," he said. "It's all about getting in the ring and doing the job. I'm looking forward to it."

Meanwhile, challenger Ruiz (32-1) acknowledged some nerves on the eve of the biggest fight of his career.

"Yeah, there are a few nerves. But those nerves are going to kick in June 1," he said. "It's all going to play out well."
