Super featherweight contender Andy Vences (23-1-1) returns to the ring on Tuesday against Luis Lopez (20-2) of Mexico in an ESPN televised co-main event.  The bout takes place underneath the Jose Zepeda-Kendo Castaneda main event in "The Bubble" at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Vences will be looking to pick up his second win in a row since suffering his first career loss which took place last October versus Albert Bell in Reno, Nevada.

With a victory Vences hopes to secure a title shot in his next ring appearance.  A week after his fight, WBO super featherweight champion Jamel Herring takes on Jonathan Oquendo in a fight Vences expects him to win.

There are plans for Herring to face former two-division champion Carl Frampton in his next fight but if the coronavirus travel restrictions make that fight impossible, Vences is hoping that he is the one to get a shot at Herring.

"For sure Herring beats Oquendo. He should be totally fine being the taller, rangier fighter which would then set him up to fight Carl Frampton. I understand why they picked Oquendo. He is on the short side. He pretty much fits the way Frampton is structured. Everyone always asks me what do I think about it. This is what I think, your job is to represent and fight the best. I got into boxing to become a world champion and fight the best fighters in my division," Vences told BoxingScene.com.

"Whether I become a world champion and then fight the best fighters or fight the best fighters to then become a champion it doesn't matter. If things don't go through with the Frampton fight due to the covid-19 situation later on down the line, Herring is going to have to step up and fight somebody. I will be ready for that opportunity if it presents itself. I would be honored to get that fight. I feel that is a fight that a lot of fight fans have been wanting, Vences versus Herring. We will see what happens. I will leave everything up to my manager Peter (Kahn) and Top Rank and the matchmakers Brad Goodman and Bruce Trampler to see what happens next."
