Mike Tawatchai continues to rebuild towards title contention, outpointing Indonesia's Galih Susanto in their 12 round super bantamweight bout Monday afternoon in Hua Hin, Thailand.

As a rematch with Juan Francisco ‘El Gallo’ Estrada is being groomed for a big event in the second half of 2016, Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez has set his sights on another flyweight unification bout. The reigning World flyweight champion has informed local media at home in Nicaragua that plans are in the works for a clash with Amnat Ruenroeng. Once finalized, the two will put their respective unbeaten records and titles on the line in a unification clash targeted for February 16.

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum has indicated his willingness to place a rematch between former IBF light flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero and Thailand’s current world champion Amnat Ruenroeng on one of his promotions in Macau. We asked Arum whether he could help Casimero because fighting Ruenroeng again in Thailand would probably end up with another hugely controversial decision.

Former IBF light flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero who lost in his bid to win the IBF flyweight title against Thai champion Amnat Ruenroeng in an ugly, foul-marred fight at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium Saturday night returned home early Monday morning dejected by what happened with bruised and painful legs caused by the numerous Muay Thai style take-downs and an aching neck due to the numerous headlocks resorted to by Ruenroeng.

Amnat Ruenroeng and John Riel Casimero are set for their anticipated flyweight title clash Saturday afternoon in Bangkok, Thailand. The bout will air live on Thailand’s Mono 29, as well as simulcast live on Philippines Sports 5’s website, airing on the network Sunday afternoon via tape delay. Ruenroeng (15-0, 5KOs) will attempt the fourth defense of the title he claimed last January. His 12-round win over Rocky Fuentes to win the vacant belt kicked off what was a Fighter of the Year-worthy ring campaign (or at least good for High Honorable Mention honors) in 2014. Two subsequent title defenses saw the Thai guy claim decision wins over Kazuto Ioka and McWilliams Arroyo to round out his year.

Amnat Ruenroeng (16-0, 5KOs) made the fourth successful defense of his flyweight title after outpointing John Riel Casimero over 12 foul-filled rounds Saturday evening in Bangkok, Thailand.

Amnat Ruenroeng and John Riel Casimero are set for their anticipated flyweight title clash Saturday afternoon in Bangkok, Thailand. Both fighters made weight ahead of Saturday’s headliner, which will air live on Thailand’s Mono 29, as well as simulcast live on Philippines Sports 5’s website, airing on the network Sunday afternoon via tape delay. Ruenroeng weighed in exactly at the 112 lb. flyweight limit, while Casimero came in at a trim and fit 112 lbs.

Former IBF light flyweight champion and current flyweight mandatory challenger to Amnat Ruenroeng of Thailand is determined to win his second world title and return to the Philippines for an expected hero’s welcome. The title fight at Bangkok’s Hua Mark Indoor Stadium will be telecast by TV 5 at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.

American Larry Doggett has been picked by the International Boxing Federation to referee the IBF flyweight title fight between champion Amnat Ruenroeng of Thailand and mandatory challenger and former IBF light flyweight champion Johnreil Casimero at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok on Saturday. The fight will be telecast by TV5 at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. The judges named by the IBF are veteran Don Trella, David Braslow and Hilton Whitaker Jr. all of the United States.

By Cliff Rold - This Saturday, for the fifth fight in a row, Thailand’s 35-year old 2008 Olympian and current IBF Flyweight titlist Amnat Ruenroeng (15-0, 5 KO) will be in a fight he has a chance to lose. His challenger, 25-year old former IBF Light Flyweight titlist Johnriel Casimero (21-2, 13 KO) of the Philippines, enters the bout on a seven-fight winning streak. Five of those wins were inside the distance. Casimero will travel for the opportunity. That’s nothing new for either man. Ruenroeng defeated Japan’s undefeated Kazuto Ioka and China’s undefeated Zou Shiming on their turf. Casimero won the interim IBF belt at 108 lbs. on the road against Argentine Luis Lazarte. His first two of four title defenses also came on the road, defeating Luis Rios in Panama and then-undefeated Pedro Guevara in Mexico. Guevara has since won a title in the division with a knockout of former 105 lb. and lineal Flyweight champion Akira Yaegashi.
