Ward has signed an exclusive multi-fight agreement with HBO that will commence with Ward’s Nov. 21 fight at The Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. Having cleaned out the super middleweight division, Ward, 31, will be making his debut in the 175-pound light heavyweight division against an opponent to be announced.
When 168-pound champion Andre Ward continues his comeback and his move up to light heavyweight by facing a fellow super middleweight in Alexander Brand, that fight will have Kenny Bayless as its referee. Bayless was unanimously approved at the Thursday meeting of the Nevada Athletic Commission. Ward-Brand is scheduled for Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino on the undercard of the Miguel-Cotto vs. Canelo Alvarez pay-per-view.
As recently reported, Andre Ward (28-0, 15 KOs) would still make his light heavyweight debut on November 21st, as part of the Miguel Cotto vs. Saul "Canelo" Alvarez HBO Pay-Per-View undercard. As previously reported, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) rejected a proposed fight between Ward and Australian contender Rohan Murdoch. The NSAC felt the fight was too uneven with a huge gap in class between the two fighters and Murdoch was also required to face Ward at the light heavyweight limit of 175-pounds.
