Shawn Porter supposes he would have to fight Adrian Granados’ fight to give Granados a chance to pull off an upset Saturday night. The former IBF welterweight champion is intent to avoid doing that. As much as fans and media are anticipating an all-action brawl between Porter and Granados at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, Porter predicted a more tactical encounter.

Welterweight Shawn Porter faces Adrian Granados this Saturday night from the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, New York as the televised co-feature on Showtime. It figures to be a pretty good fight but it may not be the one that Porter was truly yearning for. "No, it actually was not," admitted Kenny Porter, the father and trainer of the former IBF welterweight titlist, to BoxingScene.com. "Of course we wanted Keith Thurman. That wasn't going to happen for us. Keith had an elbow injury and some other stuff going on in his personal life. He got married, went to Kathmandu. I figured the next best guy - which the WBC said we could fight - was Danny Garcia.

Adrian Granados won’t catch Shawn Porter with his guard down Saturday night. Porter promises he won’t make the same mistake some of Granados’ opponents have made by overlooking the tenacious contender. The former IBF welterweight champion recognizes that winning their 10-round welterweight fight would completely change Granados’ career, thus Porter prepared accordingly for a fight Showtime will broadcast from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Records in boxing can sometimes be deceiving, and that is certainly the case when you look at Adrian Granados (18-5-2, 12 KOs). The Chicago man may have five defeats to his name but all of them can be considered disputed, particularly his last outing against Adrien Broner. Back in February in Broner’s home state of Ohio, Granados was seen as the winner by judge Phil Rogers but was overruled by Robert Pope and Steve Weisfeld.
Adrian Granados doesn’t think he put forth his best performance against Adrien Broner. The gritty Granados still believes he did enough to win their 10-round welterweight fight February 18, but knew he wouldn’t get the decision once they went to the scorecards in Broner’s hometown of Cincinnati. Broner beat Granados by split decision that night at Xavier University’s Cintas Center, which left Granados with the third split-decision defeat on his record.
