Instead, eleven months on, he finds himself frustrated at a lack of opportunities resulting in only one fight since, that being a low key encounter off television, a win over Ariel Vásquez.
Junior welterweight Adrian Granados is beginning to see doors opening up for him. Granados continued his winning ways this past Saturday night, defeating Ariel Vasquez in a stay-busy fight at the Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix, Ariz. All three judges scored the bout in favor of Granados, 78-74, 78-74, and 79-73.

On November 28th in Quebec, Adrian Granados (17-4-2, 12KOs) was brought in as a stay-busy opponent for the highly regarded and undefeated Amir Imam. But the rugged Granados pulled the upset by stopping Imam (who was then ranked number one at junior welterweight by the WBC) in eight rounds.

Last month, junior welterweight contender Amir Imam (18-1, 15KOs) was within touching distance of a world title shot. Imam was the mandatory challenger to WBC champion Viktor Postol. The World Boxing Council issued an ordered which allowed Postol to have a voluntary defense before making his mandatory with Imam.
Now ranked at number six by both the WBC and the WBA, Adrian Granados is still enjoying his impressive stoppage victory over previously undefeated Amir Imam, but is already back in the gym preparing for something big next year.
Many boxers would agree that victory as an underdog makes a win that more satisfying. The ability to prove people wrong and gain new followers underlines all the hard work done in preparation for the bout. That was certainly the case on November 28 when Adrian Granados travelled to Canada to face favourite and touted future champion Amir Imam on Showtime Extreme. Many saw this as a straightforward fight for Imam who carried a high ranking in three of the four major governing bodies, and after the first round you would have been forgiven for thinking that the general consensus was correct. Granados, however, had other plans.

It was a crushing defeat for Imam, who entered the fight as the No. 1 mandatory challenger to WBC Super Lightweight World Champion Viktor Postol.
