Abel Ramos has a new opponent and platform on which the fight will take place. BoxingScene.com has learned through multiple sources that Josesito Lopez has suffered an injury and was forced to withdraw from his planned welterweight fight with Ramos. The two were due to collide as part of a Fox Sports Pay-Per-View show on February 5 from Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas.

Mario Barrios fit all the criteria that Keith Thurman wanted in an opponent for his ring return. The former welterweight titleholder from Clearwater, Florida will look to break a more than two-and-a-half sabbatical from boxing, when he makes his return against San Antonio's Barrios on Feb. 5 at the Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas. Thurman, 33, has not fought since dropping a close decision to Manny Pacquiao in 2019.

Keith Thurman’s long-awaited return to the ring was finally made official Saturday night. Premier Boxing Champions announced during FOX’s live boxing broadcast from Minneapolis that Thurman will meet Mario Barrios in the main event of a FOX Sports Pay-Per-View show February 5. Thurman (29-1, 22 KOs, 1 NC) and Barrios (26-1, 17 KOs) have agreed to square off in a 12-round fight that’ll mark Barrios’ official move up to the welterweight division.

Carson, California - welterweight contender Abel Ramos (27-4-2, 21 KOs) delivered an impressive performance in stopping former champion Omar “Panterita” Figueroa Jr. (28-2-1, 19 KOs) after six-rounds in their WBA Welterweight Title Eliminator.

Abel Ramos brutalized Omar Figueroa Jr. on Saturday night. Ramos repeatedly hurt Figueroa to his head and body until the former WBC lightweight champion couldn’t take it anymore. Joel Diaz, Figueroa’s trainer, stopped their scheduled 12-round WBA welterweight elimination match after Figueroa took a lot of punishment in the sixth round on the Andy Ruiz Jr.-Chris Arreola undercard at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

Omar Figueroa Jr. and Abel Ramos have every intention of stealing the show in a venue known for generating instant classics. The welterweight clash has been pegged as one to watch as part of a four-fight Fox Sports Pay-Per-View event that takes place this Saturday from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The site was still known as StubHub Center when Figueroa enjoyed his last win as a lightweight titlist, outlasting Mexico City’s Daniel Estrada to earn a 9th round knockout in their Aug. 2014 shootout.

Omar Figueroa Jr. has given himself every fair chance of living up to the expectations of his fight with Abel Ramos potentially stealing the show this weekend. The highly anticipated welterweight showdown has been pegged as a can’t-miss affair as part of Saturday’s four-fight Fox Sports Pay-Per-View event from Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California. The bout marks the first ring appearance for Figueroa (28-1-1, 19KOs) since a lopsided 12-round unanimous decision loss to Yordenis Ugas in July 2019, having spent most of the past two years rediscovering his fighting desire.
