To follow up on last week's report on BoxingScene.com, sources in Mexico are reporting that Freddy Hernandez (29-1, 20KOs) is now the frontrunner to face WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (26-0, 20KOs) on November 27.

Berto's promoter was unable to reach an agreement for a fight with mandatory challenger Selcuk Aydin. Hernandez recently stopped former champion Mike Anchondo in four rounds. Hernandez has not been beaten since a split decision loss to Golden Johnson in 2005.

Berto's next fight will be on the Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Michael Katsidis undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Celestino Caballero will also appear on the card, moving up to super featherweight to face Jason Litzau.
