WBA Interim Super Lightweight champion Marcos Maidana is finalizing his preparation to defend his crown next August 28 against former world champion Demarcus Corley at the Luna Park stadium in Argentina.

“I have a great training camp based in Córdoba, Argentina, where I have been for nearly nine weeks. I am ready for Corley, a great boxer that I don’t understimate at all”, Maidana commented.

“Right now I’m 100% focused on Corley, who said he would bring a war to me. I expect a great fight before my people. I respect Corley and let my fists do the trick on August 28,” he added.

However, “El Chino” is getting tired of Amir Khan’s team comments, which he finds disrespecting and full of hypocrisy.

“The other day Freddie Roach said Amir Khan would easily beat Bradley, Alexander and myself in the same night. I say they can start trying me first and they will not have to worry about the other two. Stop looking for possible opponents for Khan next December 11 in England. Stop looking for lightweight boxers and face the real 140 pounders. I’ll go to Khan’s home soil to take the other portion of the WBA title, which belongs to me”, Maidana said.

“We received an offer from Golden Boy Promotions to fight Andre Berto at 147 lbs. but we turned it down as I want to face the best 140 pounders, which is my natural weight. Everybody knows that Khan and Roach have runned away scared from me for the last year. They have two faces. They say they want me next when the cameras and mics are on. But when it comes to make the fight for real. Roach begs Golden Boy Promotions to keep Khan away from me,” Maidana added.
