Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, Nevada - Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (26-1-1, 18KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Joel Casamayor (37-5-1, 22KOs) in a junior welterweight contest. The scores were 98-879, 98-89 and 97-90.

Casamayor may have put on 14-pounds since the weigh-in, but it was Guerrero who appeared to be the bigger and stronger fighter at the start. Casamayor lost a point in the second round for holding. Guerrero rocked Casamayor near the end of the second. Casamayor legs were shaken and he fell to his knees while tryin to survive. Referee Jay Nady ruled it as a knockdown. Casamayor seemed to have nothing at all in the tank after two rounds.

During the third and fourth, Casamayor began to get his groove back. Guerrero outboxed him in the fifth and once again rocked Casamayor at the end of the sixth. Guerrero rocked Casamayor a few more times in the seventh.  During the tenth and final round, Casamayor rocked and dropped Guerrero with a right hand in the final minute. It was the first time Guerrero had been knocked down. Guerrero finished the fight.
