WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) is already in the early stages of his training for a June 7th title defense against former three division champion Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs) at New York's Madison Square Garden. After the fight with Cotto, Martinez will consider a unification fight with WBA/IBO champion Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26KOs). Martinez says a fight with Golovkin has to happen sooner than later, because the Kazakhstan fighter will be more dangerous in the future.

"When I beat Cotto by knockout, I can just concentrate on what might be a possible fight with Golovkin. He is the most difficult opponent. He's not the most difficult because of his technique, but for his physical strength. Golovkin is strong, physically fit and he can take a punch. This is the time to fight him, because in a few years he will have more experience and he will be more dangerous," Martinez told Mundo.
