Kiko Martinez was a sizable underdog when he entered the ring last Saturday night against IBF super bantamweight champion Jhonathan Romero. However the Spaniard was able to buck the odds by applying relentless pressure to eventually breakdown the champion and capture a world title for the first time in his career.

On a recent edition of BoxingScene Radio, WBA/WBO king Guillermo Rigondeaux told us that he was impressed by Martinez's performance and that he would love to face him in the future.

"I saw the fight.  I thought it was a good action fight. I thought he did a good job fighting the Colombian and he put on a good fight.

"Of course I would fight Kiko.  I am willing to fight anybody. They put them in front of me and I will beat them," Rigondeaux stated.

The 32-year-old Cuban said that he is more than happy to face anyone but that a lot of his potential opponents don't share his enthusiasm.

"We will have to wait and see but the problem is we have to see if he would want to fight me," Rigondeaux explained. We also asked Rigondeaux to break down Saturday's title fight between WBC super bantamweight champion Victor Terrazas and former bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz. Rigondeaux said that the fight will come down to who trained harder and said that he would love to face the winner.

"Whoever is the better prepared fighter will come out with the win.  It will come down to the preparation.  You have two young fighters and I am interested in fighting either of them," Rigondeaux told BoxingScene Radio.
