Floyd "Money" Mayweather put on a great performance this past Saturday night as he dominated Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero over 12 rounds and added another win to his undefeated record. As soon as Mayweather was awarded his victory, the buzz began about a possible showdown with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on September 14th for Mexican Independence day. It is one of the most coveted boxing dates and it would also set the stage perfectly for such a fight.

At the post fight press conference Mayweather said he would sit down with his team and decide his next move when he was asked about the possibility of fighting Alvarez next. At the moment there doesn't appear to be a bigger name or draw that Mayweather could fight but Alvarez also resides 7 pounds north of where Mayweather is currently campaigning at. Floyd has made two ventures into the 154 pound division against Oscar De La Hoya and most recently Miguel Cotto.

While a third trip to Junior Middleweight definitely isn't out of the question, Mayweather feels even if he faces and defeats Canelo, people will simply find another opponent he must beat to prove he's the best.

"I proved myself already. I proved myself time and time [again]. I'm not going to choose one particular opponent because if I was to fight Canelo and beat Canelo they're going to come up [with another opponent]. Not too long ago they was talking about Pacquiao. He got two losses and now they're talking about Canelo. I think the Canelo fight with Trout was a lot closer than what they had it but if me and Canelo were to fight and he took a loss they'd come up with another opponent. So they're going to keep making opponents. This is not going to stop. And I'm not going to say Canelo is not a good fighter but like I said before, I'm happy with my victory tonight and only thing I got to do is take one day at a time" Mayweather said.

Floyd will be keeping his next move a secret for now but we have also seen a less vocal Mayweather when it comes to dealing and talking about his opponents. There were and have been plenty of opportunities for the WBC Welterweight champion to engage in verbal warfare with Guerrero or even in regards to Canelo. But Mayweather informs things are different now and he doesn't feel he needs to resort to that any longer.

"I'm older, [I'm] wiser. I've done all that before. I don't have to come out here and tell you guys how fast my hands are. I don't have to tell anybody how good my jab is [or] how good my right hand is. It's just go out there and do it. I've already done everything to build a fan base. I don't have to do nothing else but just go out there and perform and give everyone what they want to see" said the undefeated champion.

If Mayweather does intend to fight in September, picking an opponent will have to be sooner than later as there will be limited time to promote a fight and it will also be one of the shortest layoffs Mayweather has had in years.
