GUAYNABO, PUERTO RICO - Rising prospect José Pedraza (5-0, 4KO's) looked strong at the pre-week weigh-in as required by the Professional Boxing Commission of Puerto Rico. Next Friday Pedraza returns to the ring at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa in Cabazon, California. He is now scheduled to face experienced African boxer face Herbert Quartey (7-6, 4KO's) in an eight round bout for a WBC junior title. Pedraza weighed 134-pounds before the commission. A max of 139.5-pounds was allowed.

"We have been working hard for about six weeks and you see the results of the work. This has been an excellent preparation. I feel very good, accurate and most importantly is that I'm fast. Quartey is a strong fighter but we understand that my experience will be the difference on the 30th in California," said Pedraza.

The Showtime televised card is co-headlined by top boxers Jermain Taylor and Andre Dirrell is separate bouts.
