The rematch between Chris Eubank Jnr and Conor Benn will take place on September 20 in London, England, according to the Ring Magazine.
The Ring, in its modern guise, oversaw the controversial first contest between them in April, when Eubank Jnr, 35, was awarded a unanimous decision at the conclusion of 12 entertaining rounds.
It was little secret that both fighters – the sons of their celebrated fathers Chris Snr and Nigel, who had so memorable a rivalry in the 1990s – had already agreed to have a rematch later in 2025, and after attracting a crowd in the region of 65,000 to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they will, perhaps inevitably, fight again.
Eubank Jnr’s struggles to make the 160lbs limit for that evening meant that their rematch was expected to take place above middleweight, regardless of Benn, 28, being a career welterweight. What the weight will be, however, remains – like the fight venue – unclear.
“Breaking!” the Ring posted on social media. “Chris Eubank Jnr versus Conor Benn II will take place on September 20th in London. The Riyadh Season card will be promoted by Sela, Matchroom and Boxxer.”
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the home of the Premier League soccer team Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs have a home fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on September 27, but on September 20 visit Brighton & Hove Albion. The Ring has also reported Wembley Stadium as a potential alternative.
"Experience gained, lessons learned, let's fucking have it," Benn posted, also on social media.
