Juan Carlos Salgado cane be seen steaming up the Romanza Gym (east of Mexico City), which is overseen by Hall of Fame trainer Ignacio "Nacho" Beristain. As the extreme heat burns the gym, Salgado gets the accelerator even higher as he prepares himself for a world title fight against Dominican Argenis Mendez, which takes place on the 10th of September at a venue to be determined.

Under the promotion of HG Boxing (Héctor García), the boxer born in the Alvaro Obregon will do everything in power to beat Mendez and capture the vacant super featherweight title of the International Boxing Federation (IBF).

Salgado said he felt good physically and mentally, and is working hard in the gym with huge motivation, because the upcoming fight represents the possibility of returning as a world champion for the second time.

"We have the potential to accomplish that and to give Mexico a new world champion," he said.

With a record of 23 wins, 16 by knockout and one defeat, Salgado has been working on strength and speed.

"This is an opportunity before me ... and I will not waste it," he said, by asserting that he is willing to leave everything in the ring.
