Margaritos Metal Plates in his head

Local Boxer Found Beaten Outside Tijuana Nightclub (March 22, 1998 from the Tijuana Times)

"Local up-and-coming boxer Antonio Margarito was celebrating his 20th birthday at La Quema de Rana- a Tijuana nightclub- this past weekend when he was involved in an altercation outside the club at around 1:30 in the morning. Sources say the young boxer got involved in a situation where he mistakenly attempted to take another man's wife home and was beaten savagely outside the club in retaliation when he attempted to leave. Margarito suffered extensive facial damage that required a fourteen hour surgery at Tijuana Regional to repair. Titanium ridges had to be used in lieu of the shattered brow ridges that were too damaged to repair. The metal plates will allow him to maintain the structure of his face and, hopefully, continue in the sport. The Mexican boxing commission has yet to rule on whether or not the Titanium alloys will prevent Margarito from being cleared to fight."

Is there any truth to this article I just got it from a previous thread? If so do Metal plates in your head absorb better or worsen upon impact?

This is very interesting. If it's true it probably answers the question as to why Cotto couldn't ktfo Margarito. I don't think he should be able to box if he has plates in his head.

I've twice momentarily fooled myself on this article. I think I'm going to flat out believe it from now on.

Even if it were true it should not have any effect on the ability to take punches. Its not the skull that causes you to get knocked out, its whats inside it.
