Nevada's New Universal Random Testing Program

    Shocked Boxingscene didn't cover this.

    Nevada Senate Bill No. 498
Nevada Governor Signs Law Funding Boxer Drug Tests

CARSON CITY, Nev. -- More money will be available to test boxers and mixed martial arts fighters in Nevada for steroids.

********** Gov. Brian Sandoval on Wednesday signed a law allowing money from an existing ticket fee to pay for random drug screenings at any time including training periods. Current law attaches a fee to tickets for live professional fights. The Nevada Athletic Commission gets $1 per person for large events and 50 cents for smaller fights that gross less than $500,000. The money goes to grants to support organizations promoting amateur fights in Nevada. The new law allows the athletic commission to divert some of the money to test amateur or professional fighters for performance-enhancing drugs that create an unfair advantage.

It goes into effect July 1.

I wonder if PPV sales are included in the 'live event admission ticket' thing. If so, then Pacquiao-Marquez, Mayweather-Ortiz, and Cotto-Margarito later on this year could fund the random testing program for about 15 years.

They need to include blood testing so far, which they haven't done. Good step though.

          No, not at all.

Program's been in place since 2008 AKA when Floyd was 'retired', just ran out of money. This bill just funds the program. Get that vacation *** out your mouth.

Nah, they'll just do what the NFL, MLB, NBA, etc is doing- wait for the HGH urine test that's being developed by USADA/Ceres Nanosciences to become commercially available. The blood test is iffy at best and can only detect the substance for 48 hrs, if at all.

The urine test can detect the substance for up to 2 weeks.

Is this just the basic piss test? I'd assume they can't provide the latest state of the art testing methods.

A step in the right direction though, thats for sure.
