Is Arthur Abraham unproven on an elite level?

Arthur Abraham may have the goods and may possibly be an elite level fighter but I am not too sure because he has not been tested against a great fighter or a world class opponent. From what I have seen I would say his best wins are against Miranda who is a solid contender level fighter who has great power just like Abraham, and Gevor who is another contender level fighter that Abraham stopped in dramatic fashion. I will say Gevor looked good last time out against Sturm, I though he won too.
Still can we safely say that Jermain Taylor is without a doubt the best opponent Abraham will have fought? Can we also confirm that Abraham is not the best best fighter Taylor will have fought? I would say that Hopkins is levels above AA in all terms except for 1 punch ko power.
I notice that AA seems to be a heavy favorite in this fight but at the same has obvious disadvantages against Taylor in terms of skill, natural talent, & big fight experience. There are many flaws in AA's game that Taylor should be able to easily exploit the the UD win in my view. Even in losing by ko to Froch, Taylor was able to win most rounds and expose Froch's flaws. That loss I think is what has driven Abraham to the position of being favored to win this fight in the minds of many fight fans. Abraham is favored still even he has not shown the ability to handle a fighter of Taylor's Caliber while at the same time JT clearly has all of the tools to win still. So one last time I think I am going to put my faith in Taylor to use his skills and talent to win the UD against Abraham.

I could easily make the argument that Arthur Abraham is no more proven than Tavoris Cloud or Andre Berto.

He hasn't actually done ****, and fight for fight his title reign is probably the most pathetic list of nobodies that any current champ has fought.

One thing that is blatantly obvious is that any of the top guys at 160 or 168 would also be undefeated with a lot of knockouts if they had fought the exact same resume as Abraham.

Arthur Abraham might be more proven that Zsolt Erdei, other than that there is no champion with at least 5 defenses who has done less to prove his worth.

I think Taylor is the best fighter that Abraham has faced. I think Arthur is an elite fighter. But, I agree not proven yet. IMO the best name in his resume is Miranda. This tournament will show how good is or how overrated he is. That is why this tournament is great.

I just don't know about AA. I have to believe he will beat Jermain, but knowing that he is undersized and his resume is crap for a world champion... It's more my lack of faith in Taylor than anything.

I've not seen many fights of JT and cannot comment on his skills.

But AA is somebody who comes late into the fights. His 1KO-power is great for a man of his size, and his defence is not shabby. But all in all he can be outpointed easily in the first half of the fight. The question remeians, can JT take the onslaught of AA in the rounds 4-10, when AA is at his fullest? If not, I'd put my money on AA.

AA is good but untested. This one I agree. IMO, if he turns out to be great, JT is in a world of trouble as he is falling out in the late rounds in his his last few fights. This is not good if you want to continue fighting on the top level. AA, I think is more rated due to his potential ... the rest, I agree with your assessment. But I like his style and rooting for him. Hopefully this tourney would be a coming out party for him. And I do hope he KOs Froch. hehehe

As I have said all along...AA is very overrated and hasn't fought a genuine world class operator yet. Jermain Taylor will beat him easily and win by UD. For me, AA has the smallest chance out of the super six to win this competition.

The only reason Taylor could lose is due to his shoddy stamina. If he can overcome that one problem for this fight he can easily win it. The other factor is that Abraham doesn't actually put a lot of pressure on his opponents either which he will need to do to make that stamina problem come into play for him.

If he sits back as he does in many fights and waits on his opponent who could out-box from from a distance it could very well end up a definite win for Taylor. That said, Taylor's stamina is really shocking. If you re-watch the fight with Froch there wasn't that much pressure or volume in that fight and he still gassed. He should have been able to last in that fight. That's the only reason this fight is a toss-up for me.

We shall at least see how good Abraham can stack up to a very good, if somewhat ruined, fighter in Taylor for once though.

AA has beaten what the middleweight division has had to offer, which isn't a lot. He has beaten a lot of worldranked opponents and done so with often with devastating highlightreel KO's.

Notable names include Gevor, Eastman, Ayala, Marquez and Miranda. The undefeated Miranda was ruined by AA and the leftovers eaten by Pavlik and later Ward.

That being said Taylor is the biggest name for him yet.

im picking jt to win a u.d the thing about pavlik and froch is that they both throw alot of hard punches thats what wore taylor down and led to the eventual k.o's. AA might hit just as hard as those guys we dont know yet at 168 however his work rate is not on the same level so for those reasons im going with taylor u.d
