"I was one those guys who wrote him off," Calzaghe said, "but he has come back with three good wins. The guy is still Roy Jones. The guy is a legend, an even bigger legend than Hopkins. I was impressed with his last fight. And he's hungry. The thing is, this is redemption for him. You can't write Roy Jones off."

This and numerous similar quotes: November 2008
Which was preivously linked though doubt you bothered to watch it as it conflicts with what you'd rather believe.
"I'm an old man aswell"
"He impressed me and a lot of people beating two young undefeated guys, the hand speed is still there".
"I wanted to face Roy Jones 6 years ago"
"He admitted to me he didn't want to face me" - which in the previous article I linked quoting Roy, does suggest he may have said something just stronger then that which would be something like this.
"I'd have an easier time with Kelly Pavlik than Roy Jones"
Now. Once again I've provided more information, more sources, more quotes, of a different time based on a different environment from new events. Something some seem to struggle comprehending. This game really doesn't seem to do you too good because for every one or two measely quote from a different time period deeming it almost irrelevant, because if it was in 08 of a different time in direct contradiction with comments why he changed his minds on new events since 06, then fair enough. But that's not what it is, and I've again comprehensively demonstrated that and more.
Give up, your losing more with each post. For every 1 measely thing there's several in the closet of more weight to fire back with. It's over, you lost.

Gone right off Froch with that.
His self -importance is ridiculous.
People called Calzaghe arrogant (hardly, he trained in a shed in a field for most of his career) - but at least Calzaghe was always a world-class fighter.
Froch loses to Sakio Bika nevermind Taylor.
Chin/Heart/Power and come forward = he would have got humiliated by Calzaghe.
The only person who give him a chance is: himself.

I really appreciate that you took much effort to provide relevant informations such as this
I admit I only know little or close to none at all about Calzaghe.
Of course you've seen that I included the year in which Calzaghe made that statement,
My main reason is that I want answers because I didn't quite follow Joe's career. I wish I did.
I wish I know why some people dare to hate him after what he has accomplished.
I'm not a Calzaghe fan, niether a hater. How can I be when I don't even know everything about the guy.
I'm a boxing fan, I want to learn the things that I've missed because I lack in resources.
This forum is were I feed my mind about boxing.

You just posted a quote, which usually comes across a certain way and of giving a statement of that, and your view. It's good to hear you don't put more weight on that quote versus the references I provided, sorry I thought you quote suggested that may not be the case.
But you have to understand it does get quite annoying when quotes of Joe's on Roy are fobbed around out of context which breads. It's often done as if it proves a major contradiction, when it doesn't because not only were they different times based on a different environment not reflecting new events. He's shown far more times years ago he wanted Roy calling him out, and since late 08 when Roy was on the winning trail again.
It was more directed at Chase whom though a cool dude and poster, is wrong on this time and time again which suggests strong bias even in the face of info. Chase, I'm calling you out for as long as you have that sig dude, because I think the info provided in this thread ruins your signature quote and leaves it misleading.Last edited by Kris Silver; 02-07-2009, 07:34 AM.

I got to admit I only finally saw a Calzaghe fight when he fought Bernard Hopkins.
Calzaghe vs. Eubank
Calzaghe vs. Mitchell
Calzaghe vs. Lacy
Calzaghe vs. Kessler

So far what KrisSilver has provided are very informative... then you suddenly make a statement like that. Sir, if we are to prove how smart we are... we shouldn't really waste our time at forums like this... we'd rather join a quiz show and earn some real money.
