Briggs Fired Up for Ibragimov!

WBO World Heavyweight Champion Shannon Briggs has spent the past 15 days at the world-famous Hilton Head Health Institute in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, working out with the institute’s personal trainers and running on the island’s beautiful beaches. Briggs has been healing from aspirated pneumonia and, in addition to using the traditional course of nebulizers and inhalers, has been spending hours in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber. The power punching champion says he is feeling better than he has in years and is already below the 268 pounds he weighed in his title-winning effort against Sergei Liakhovich last November. Taunts from Ibragimov's promoters seem to have fired up Briggs. When asked if the barbs and insults really motivated his man, Briggs manager, Scott Hirsch, said, "I'll just say they awoke a sleeping giant."

Briggs vs Ibragimov

After watching Sultan Ibragimov dominate big Lance Whitaker, I believe he can defeat Briggs if he's in top form. Iggy was a little disappointing against Ray Austin, but I think the Whitaker-fight-version of Sultan will show up for this WBO title fight.

Shannon Briggs has fast hands and a powerful right, so he can knock most people out if given the chance, and Sultan is a brawler type boxer who comes forward a lot, so Briggs will likely be able to connect. But Briggs isn't very difficult to hit either, and Sultan punches faster and harder than the overrated Lyakhovich, hard enough to knock Briggs out.

It should be a great fight, lots of action in the early rounds, and I bet it will not go the distance! I hope it's televised in North America.

Hilton Head Health Institute? I'll bet they sell the best snake oil in the south. Instead of being 50 pound overweight, Briggs might only be 30 or 40 pounds overweight. Won't make any difference, Briggs never had any stamina even when he was young and in the best shape of his life. All Ibragimov has to do is run him out of gas.

exactly, i see this fight being boring for the first 4 or 5 rounds with both guysd looking for a chance to land one big shot... sultan shouldnt take many chances and let briggs tire before testing him late

well it going to be similar to that but think each one wanna make some statment so they could get a shot at Wlad or unify the HW.

but sometimes a fast pace couter puncher like Salvador Sanchez and JMM is cool to watch i trying to train to be one like to couter punch when middle of the brawl it differecult

Shannon briggs is a dumb ass ******. He loses... Dumb ass called out klitschko who would have shannon briggs out in the first/second round. Either of the klits could easily do that. Without even throwing a right!!!

How does a 6'9 slow southpaw compare to a 6'4 conventional boxer/Puncher?

Where did you draw the similarities? They're big and black? There is absolutely nothing similar between Briggs and Whitaker.
