for instance... Vanes and Berto fought twice in amateurs.. Berto won the first in a real scrap, Vanes the 2nd in a scrap thus keeping Berto off the US Team. While this doesn't say it all... it does suggest that even in the pros they are fairly at the same level perhaps and would make for a tight matchup.Comment

all those guys need to step it up possibly against each other. out of all i say kirkland will get KTFO first, exciting figher but lacks defense. he was tagged and stunned by a bum in his last fight.Comment

well ya i know its not everything.. but I wouldn't completely throw out certain amateur victories and losses either...

For example, who did Vanes lose to other than Berto?
Carlos Navarro was a good ammy but a **** pro
Dante Craig
Kelcie Banks

Those amateur fights between Vanes and Berto will definitely come into play if they ever meet in the pros... whether for technical reasons, or just mental.
I dont care what other amateurs did... as a guy that knows Vanes personally, I know what HIS amateur wins and losses meant to him... he went somethin like (120-10) and ive seen most of the videos where he avenges his loss the second time around.
You cant argue that the basis of a good pro career is a solid amateur career.
POINT IN FACT! The 0 votes here for Chavez Jr. who stepped up into the big leagues blind and is somewhat of a laughing factor now.Comment
