Cotto almost always backs off from his opponents when the going gets tough in fights while Margarito never does no matter how scary it gets in there. Cotto doesn't have the handspeed, footspeed, stamina, or the heart to give Margarito any trouble. The only thing that Cotto has over Margarito is his boxing skill. Too bad that won't be enough.

puff that eye up and hope the ref gets scared for marg's eye.
this is actually a very realistic scenario. margarito will need all those 12 rounds, and an injury could prevent that. i see a mildly controversial doctor stoppage in/around the 8th. marg will want to fight on, but the doc stops it and hands cotto the win.

To me the question of just how hard he really hits without plaster is still unanswered. But Cotto has never been the same since their first fight so it might not matter, he is a shell of what he used to be.

if the marg that fought pac shows up...... cotto is in trouble.

          simple as.
Completely agree. Even taking an unholy beating Margarito came forward at all times and both threw and landed against Pac more than anyone since Marquez 2.

          That guy beats Cotto.

Pac looked pretty beat up in the post fight conferences. With the patch around his ear, because of his broken ear drums or whatever it was.

I thought I Pacquiao actually looked like he was in a fight against Clottey and Cotto. He looked pretty fresh at the end of the Margarito fight, aside from that one body attack.

Ive been saying this for a while now. A little under a years, right after the Pac fight.

If Margs puts as much pressure on Cotto as he did Pac, and lands some more of the body shots he landed on Pacquiao, Margs wins the fight in 8 rounds.

pac said margarito hit hard and that he could really feel his punches..you can tell by looking at his face after the fight that he wasn't lying.

cotto is really going to have to fight smart with margarito and stay off the ropes as much as possible. if cotto allows marg to catch him on the ropes then it will be a very tough fight for cotto.

That's true. And you can't accuse him of wearing plaster for that fight, I'm sure they checked the wraps very well.

Manny had illegal wraps in that fight and Margarito still walked through every single shot and did much better than most expected if that guy shows up Miguels career is over

Been watching the fight and have been comparing to the original Cotto-Margo fight.

I would have to say no.

Margo's foot speed has reduced from the original fight.

His upper body movement was gone.

The only thing I saw that resembled the first fight was his jab looked the same.

                      Cotto's handspeed has been reduced.

But other then that he looks fairly the same.

So I think Cotto has a great shot at beating Margo if he uses his jab and controls the tempo of the fight.
