Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya has double-downed on the statements made to BoxingScene.com by his company Vice President, Eric Gomez.

Gomez advised BoxingScene's Steve Kim that his company would make a very handsome offer to Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) to face Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (47-1-1, 33KOs) in September of 2017.

In other words, there will NOT be a monetary split - like, for example, the 60-40 split that favored Floyd Mayweather Jr. in last year's mega-fight with Manny Pacquiao. Golovkin will be offered a flat fee.

De La Hoya explains that he's firm in his position, because Golovkin "does not sell" when it comes to pay-per-view, while Canelo is an established pay-per-view star.

Like Gomez previously stated, De La Hoya says his company will make a flat fee offer to Golovkin - which Golden Boy claims will be the largest amount of money that Golovkin has ever made in his career.

"In all promotions there is an A-side and a B-side, and Canelo is the A-side of any negotiation," stated De La Hoya to ESPN Deportes. "Because we are in the era of Canelo, it is Canelo's time."

"Consequently, we are not willing to negotiate based on percentages in that promotion. When the time comes, we will make an offer to Golovkin, a very good deal, in which he will earn more than he's ever won in his career, and he will decide whether or not to accept it. That offer will be presented to Golovkin when Saul Alvarez is ready to invade the 160 pound division."

Golovkin, who holds the IBO/IBF/WBA/WBC middleweight titles, will face IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook on Saturday night at the O2 Arena in Las Vegas. Next Saturday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas - Canelo will drop back to the junior middleweight limit of 154-pounds to challenge WBO world champion Liam Smith.
