Adonis Stevenson: record, next fight and profile →
Adonis Stevenson (29-1-1, 24 KOs), 40-years-old, admits that he needs to be more active. Stevenson has not fought twice in a single year since 2015 - averaging a single fight in 2016, 2017 and so far only one bout in 2018.
WBC light heavyweight world champion Adonis Stevenson retained his title on Saturday night in Toronto, in a high contact clash with Badou Jack. The bout ended in a majority draw, which didn't satisfy either boxer. Stevenson, 40-year-old, kept the title after two judges scored the bout 114-114 and the third saw Jack as a 115-113 winner in the title bout at Toronto.
Badou Jack doesn’t think only two of the judges got it wrong Saturday night. The former two-division champion claims referee Ian John Lewis shouldn’t have warned him for low blows, either. Jack thinks his body shots were perfectly legal, especially since Stevenson’s trunks were pulled up higher than usual.
Yvon Michel, who promotes WBC light heavyweight world champion Adonis Stevenson, was very impressed with the performance of challenger Badou Jack. On Saturday night in Toronto, Stevenson started strong - but then faded badly in the second half.
Adonis Stevenson retains his WBC light heavyweight title, but barely, against the hard-luck Badou Jack, who absorbed his second draw in a title fight in his last three bouts. Jack won his rounds much bigger than Stevenson -- in rounds 7-11 alone he led 114-40 overall -- but in the round-by-round breakdowns Jack led just 6-5-1 in total connects.
Badou Jack and Adonis Stevenson agreed after their majority draw Saturday night that they should fight again. They disagree, though, on where their second fight should take place. Stevenson wants Jack to return to Canada for their rematch, whereas Jack suggested possible venues in Las Vegas, Jack’s native Sweden or the United Kingdom.
