Golden Boy Promotions has given unbeaten Canadian welterweight Mikael Zewski his release, which explains his presence on today’s Nonito Donaire-Omar Narvaez undercard in New York City’s Madison Square Garden Theater.

According to Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti, the 22-year-old Zewski (10-0, 6 KOs), a native of Trois-Rivières, Quebec, will get a look from the promotional giant’s brass as he fights Keauntray Henson (4-3, 1 KO) of Memphis, Tenn.

A four-time national champion who compiled a 138-29 amateur record, Zewski signed with TKO Promotions early in his pro career before moving onto Golden Boy with manager Cameron Dunkin in August of last year.

However, Zewski met an unlikely bump in the road after a controversial split decision victory over Clint Coronel on the Marcos Maidana-Erik Morales undercard in April that many in press row felt the unheralded Coronel had won instead.

Now a free agent following a three-round destruction of Ruben Galvan in Montreal in May, the Québécois has an opportunity to re-establish himself as one of the brightest prospects north of the border on Saturday.
