WBA Intercontinental Middleweight Champion Patrick Nielsen (16-0, 8 KOs)  will take on Jamel Bahki (24-3-2, 6 KOs) at the Nordic Fight Night in  Helsinki on November 10. Promoter Nisse Sauerland has warned his rising  star to “travel to Finland in perfect shape”. He said: “Let´s be clear  about this: Patrick´s last fight was not as good as we had hoped for.  It´s not like he has to make up for something, but knowing his potential, we expect him to put on a better performance in Helsinki. In Frederikshavn, Patrick got tired early. This must not happen again. It was a good learning experience. Don´t forget that this will be his 17th fight already, and he is just 21!”

Nielsen certainly feels he has something to prove. “I was very angry  with myself after the last fight. I know I can perform much better, I show it in practice all the time and I have shown it in the ring, too. I will be on a mission in Helsinki, I plan to dominate every minute of the fight and defend the WBA Intercontinental Title in a convincing way. It might be good to fight on the road, I will have to work extra hard to win the fans over.”

Bahki, from Belgium, believes he can expose his 21-year-old opponent. "Patrick Nielsen is overhyped and his most recent fights are proof of that,” he stated. “He struggled in his last fight against Yebes. If it had been me in the ring with him on that night, he would not have lasted the full 12 rounds. I am ready to hand him his first loss in Helsinki, I am ready to shock him."

In the Finnish main event of the night, undefeated heavyweight star Robert Helenius will face Sherman “The Tank” Williams. Dennis Ceylan and Micki Nielsen will also be in action. TV3+ will broadcast live from the Nordic Fight Night at Helsingin Jäähalli. Tickets are available at www.lippupalvelu.fi .

SMITH LOOKING TO IMPRESS IN LIVERPOOL COMEBACK TO SET UP SHOWDOWN WITH ANDERSON

Paul Smith will step through the ropes for the first time in 13 months on 9th November, live on BoxNation, when he makes his eagerly awaited return on the Queensberry Promotions card at the Liverpool Olympia, and will looking to put himself straight back in contention for a shot at the British Super Middleweight Title, which was captured by Kenny Anderson last Saturday night against an aged Robin Reid.

Smith confirmed at a press conference last month that he had already had discussions with the BBBoC about the previously vacant Lonsdale belt, however board general secretary Robert Smith told him that they could not make number one contender Anderson wait for another round of purse bids, and Anderson would get the chance to meet his choice of ranked opponents for the title.

Smith was told however that he would be likely to be installed as mandatory challenger once Anderson had fought for the vacant title, which makes an impressive performance in his November 9th return all the more important.

Smith last fought in October 2011 against an impressive George Groves, who caught Smith in the second round and inflicted an early stoppage. Smith had been getting some joy against Groves in a highly competitive first round and was unlucky to get caught by hard-hitting Groves who is now looking to mix it at world level, with a 15th December showdown with Glen Johnson.

Smith said, “I’m gunning for Anderson now he’s got hold of the Lonsdale belt. I just need to get back in there in 9th November and show what I’m capable of doing after such a long time out of the ring, then when that’s done, the Anderson showdown is the fight I want.”

“Training has been going really well and I know that come 9th November I’m not going to leave anything to chance when it comes to setting up a shot at the British title.”

Paul Butler v John Donnelly for the Vacant Super Bantamweight British Championship headlines the packed card at the Olympia from Queensberry Promotions, who take a break from their successful run of BoxAcademy shows, to bring a double title show that also features Ovill McKenzie’s Commonwealth Light heavyweight Title defence against former WBO Cruiserweight king Enzo Maccarinelli.

Paul Smith’s younger brother Liam is also in action on the bill as he looks to put his hand up for a shot at the British Welterweight title. Additionally, Ellesmere Port’s former amateur starlet, Matty Fagan, makes his highly anticipated pro debut.

Tickets, priced at £30, £40 and £60 are available from Ticketmaster on 0844 844 0444 or www.ticketmaster.co.uk

PROVIDENCE - Thirty-one-year-old Jason "Big Six" Estrada (19-4, 5 KOs) has been patiently waiting the past two years for his last shot at the big-time. The 2004 U.S. Olympian, fighting out of Providence, is preparing to headline the November 10th "Big Things" card at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence.

Estrada fights veteran Galen "Bad Boy" Brown (38-20-1, 23 KOs) in the eight-round main event, presented by Big Six Promotions, on the "Big Things" show featuring many of New England's favorite boxers. Estrada has won his last three fights against Alex Gonzales, Dominique Alexander and Joseph Rabotte, while the battle-tested Brown has fought former world champion Hasim Rahman, world title challenger Mariusz Wach, and former Russian titlist Andrey Fedosov.

"I'm trying to work my way back into position for a big fight," Estrada explained. "It's a   lot better staying active instead of just training, which gets boring after a while. I'm hoping to get a call if an opponent falls out in a big fight or if somebody hears my name and he wants a challenge. I'm staying busy. I'm not in a situation where I can call the shots. Guys today pick their opponents, waiting to get a fight against one of the Klitschko brothers."

Today, Estrada is much different from the highly-decorated U.S. amateur boxer who turned professional nearly eight years ago. He has changed his style back to the way it was when he was boxing in the Junior Olympics, plus he's healthier than he's been at any time since his amateur days.

"I sat down with my father (and head trainer Roland Estrada) and we changed my style a lot, back to what it was when I was fighting in the JO's," Estrada said. "When computer scoring came to the amateurs, I had to win points and did that by boxing. It was easy but that style doesn't work in the pros. I made a transition the past two years to sit on my punches and hurt guys. It just took a little time to get there. Everything was new for me when I turned pro.

"I'm healthy now, too. Fighting as a pro, my body hurt all the time. I had elbow, foot and other issues that are all cleared up. I've become more patient, picking my shots better. I learned that boxing is a marathon, not a sprint, and I'm smarter today. I'm only fighting eight, 10 and 12 round fights now.

"I'm not fighting past 35, so the clock's ticking, faster and faster. I'm waiting for my opportunity. It has to come before long. I've been working two years like this, staying busy and ready. Once I get that chance, I'm going to snatch it. I've become a professional fighter."

Unbeaten Pawtucket (RI) junior welterweight Diego Periera (7-0-1, 2 KOs) faces veteran Bryan "The Brick" Abraham (6-14-2, 6 KOs) in the six-round co-feature.

A solid six-round bout has been added to the card matching a pair of unbeaten junior welterweights, Gabriel Deluc (6-0, 1 KO), of Boston, and Waterbury's (CT) Jair Ramos (3-0-1, 2 KOs).

Scheduled to fight on the undercard in four-round bouts are Providence junior welterweight Josh "Bam Bam" Beeman (4-11-3, 2 KOs) vs. Carlos Hernandez (3-2, 2 KOs), Hyannis (MA) heavyweight Jesse Barbosa (4-1-1, 3 KOs) vs. TBA, Hyannis light heavyweight Paul Gonsalves (4-2, 3 KOs) vs. Ahmad Mickens (1-2-1), former Irish National amateur champion Michael McLaughlin (2-1-1), fighting out of Boston, vs. Robert Hunt (0-2), of Hyannis, Providence middleweights Kevin Harrison and Pubilo Pena make their pro debuts fighting each other, Springfield super middleweight Reinaldo Graceski (2-0) vs. Michael Mitchell (0-1), and Portland, Maine middleweight Russell Lamour in his pro debut vs. TBA.

All fights and fighters subject to change.
