Mexican welterweight star Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (30-0-1, 22KOs) will make his debut with Golden Boy Promotions on the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Shane Mosley pay-per-view undercard on May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Alvarez has a fight scheduled on March 6 in Mexico. Golden Boy wants to have him fight three more times in 2010. The second fight with Golden Boy would happen in September.

Golden Boy vice president Eric Gomez told reporters in Mexico City that Mayweather-Mosley is a practically a done deal and Alvarez will be showcased on the undercard.

"Mayweather and Mosley have not signed but the fight is almost done. The fight is 98% made. A few small details having to do with television are missing, but the fight will certainly happen," Gomez said. "We will start Alvarez's first of three fights that we have with him for this year. They will be against some of the top 10 welterweights. He wants competitive fights and he'll have them."
