On September 26 at the Coushatta Casino in Kinder, La., heavyweight prospect George Foreman III, also known as "Monk" Foreman, will have his third pro fight. Foreman made his pro debut in June, stopping Clyde Weaver in one and then grabbed a two-round stoppage over George Burrage in July. Before he was able to go pro, he had to convince his dad, former two-time heavyweight champion George Foreman, that he was serious about making it in the sport.

“I would say one of my biggest hurdles was to show my dad that I was serious,” Foreman said to BoxingScene.com. “So when we were up training in the woods, I had to give it my all, to show him I was willing to give up my life just to get through the training session. He definitely had to see me do that in order to be comfortable with me getting into the ring.”

Monk actually sparred with his father a few times, and Big George didn't go easy on him. He made his son pay for every mistake in the ring.

“The (first) sparring sessions were very interesting.,” Monk said. “He gave me no pointers; we didn't even talk. He wanted to see what I was all about. … Every mistake I made, he made me pay for. It really taught me that boxing is more of a chess match, not a brawl.”
