Junior welterweight contender Saul" Canelo" Alvarez (45-1-1, 32KOs) is not even thinking about his 2013 twelve round decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

It was the biggest fight of Canelo's career and the event was very successful. It set a live gate record at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and brought in 2.2 million pay-per-view purchases - ranking it as the third most successful pay-per-view event in history.

Canelo gets the opportunity to redeem himself when he steps into the ring next month in another major pay-per-view fight, at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, against WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4).

The Mexican star has built a streak of three wins since the defeat, over Alfredo Angulo, Erislandy Lara and James Kirkland.

He feels the level of the Mayweather event and the big stage experience has only helped him become a better fighter and assisted him in continuing to grow in the sport.

Cotto-Canelo is the second most anticipated fight of the year, behind the May bout between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.

"[The loss] hurt my pride. I do not feel like it's a thorn in my side. Obviously I would have liked to face him again, but this rematch was requested and nothing happened. I believe that it's already put back in the past, but that fight really helped me to improve and move forward in my career. So I keep looking ahead," Canelo told ESPN Deportes.
