WBA 'regular' welterweight champion Keith 'One Time' Thurman (26-0, 22KOs) will continue to pursue a possible fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs), who holds the WBC/WBA 'super' championships.

Mayweather is back on September 12th, when he defends his titles against former champion Andre Berto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The fight is being pushed as the final bout of Mayweathers' pro career.

Thurman believes Mayweather will continue his professional run and as long as he continues to fight, Thurman feels his likelihood of landing a Mayweather fight will increase.

Thurman will return in the fall against an opponent to be named.

"I’ll always be in the running until the day he retires, that’s the way I see it. I feel that I deserve my position in the welterweight division and I’m gonna hold it down. I’m gonna represent each time I step into the ring. The longer he’s in the game, the better opportunity I have of fighting Floyd Mayweather. I look forward to that, I want that opportunity," Thurman told On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

"Floyd is one of the best fighters we have in the world today in the sport of boxing and I just want to be able to showcase my skills and my talent to the best fighters in the world, for the fans. I already know the type of fighter that I am and it would be an entertaining fight, it would be way better than the Pacquiao fight, it would be better than the Cotto fight too."
