BoxingScene.com caught up to Michael Koncz, the adviser of eight-division titlist and WBO welterweight king, Manny Pacquiao, regarding this Q&A concerning the recently-surfaced allegations of steroid use by Pacquiao as well as the potential for the third bout with WBO and WBC lightweight king, Juan Manuel Marquez.

As pointed out in a recent story by David Greisman of BoxingScene.com, the most recent accusations against Pacquiao surfaced "in the form of what was called an article, but was no more than a posting by an anonymous person – not a boxing writer and not a journalist, but the pseudonym of “The Shadow,” or the username of “mikejohnson313.”

Pacquiuao already has an ongoing lawsuit seeking damages for defamation of character and naming Floyd Mayweather Jr., his father, Floyd Sr., his uncle and trainer, Roger Mayweather, and both Richard Schaefer and Oscar De La Hoya, CEO and president, respectively, of Golden Boy Promotions.

Below is the Q&A with Michael Koncz.

BoxingScene.com: Will Manny Pacquiao be fighting Juan Manuel Marquez next?

Michael Koncz: There's a high-probability that we will be facing Juan Manuel Marquez. Marquez is certainly one of the candidates that we're looking at. We're evaluating the financial aspects of the fight, and if the guaranteed purse to Manny is at X-amount, then we'll have no problem with it.

But I don't know if that fight can generate the money that we need to be paid, so it's going to be up to Bob Arum. If we get the guarantee that we're asking for, then Manny will have no problem fighting anybody.

BoxingSCene.com: What are your thoughts on whether or not Golden Boy Promotions will be able to match what you are offering Juan Manuel Marquez?

MK: I have heard nothing, but my understanding is that they can't match what we are offering Juan Manuel Marquez and that they are unable to match it. We've given him an offer where he's going to make X-amount.

BoxingScene.com: What is the contracted weight for the fight?

MK: I believe that the weight will be at 144 is what I understand. I think that that was the weight.

BoxingScene.com: How difficult to you expect a third fight to be against Juan Manuel Marquez, considering that Manny Pacquiao has fought as high as junior middleweight, and Marquez was easily defeated by Floyd Mayweather as a welterweight?

MK: I don't really necessarily think that it's a good fight. I think that it will be controversial. In fact, I think that if we fight Juan Manuel Marquez 20 times that it will always end in controversy 20 times.

They say that styles make fights, but, you know, sometimes, styles break fights.

BoxingScene.com: Why do you say that?

MK: Juan Manuel Marquez, for some reason, has Manny figured out. Manny has fought him twice now to a draw and to a split-decision. He's knocked him down four times.

But it's been shown that if you knock the guy down that many times, he's still very resilient and he gets back up and he's got Manny figured out.

So I think that it's a very difficult fight and that's why I need to make certain that the financial rewards for Manny are valid enough to take that fight.

BoxingScene.com: What are your thoughts on the steroid accusations and why did Manny Pacquiao think that it as necessary to issue a formal statement disputing the most recent claims?

MK: No. 1, it was at the advice of our attornies. Our lawyers drafted the statement and released it.

BoxingScene.com: Why issue the statement?

MK: No. 2, it's a bullsh*t story. Tell me what Filipino sparring partner we've had? We've never had a Filipno sparring partner. So, you know, this secret meeting in Las Vegas?

To be honest with you, I wouldn't be surprised or it wouldn't shock me if someone privy to the details of our previous litigation [against Floyd Mayweather's camp] leaked that story out to cause some controversy.

It's a totally absurd statement, but we felt that we had to a short, swift response to the statement. It's bullsh*t, but we're not worried about the story or the accusations.

There was never a Filipino sparring partner that left us. We didn't have a Filipino sparring partner. So the whole story is fabricated.

This person went to great lengths to identify the precise location and the precise name of the muscle where this injection was given? Come on? What sparring partner is going to know that?

What sparring partner is going to know that quadrant or whatever the f*ck he called it. He's going to know that it's an a** muscle and that's all he's going to know.

That's the extent of it.

BoxingScene.com: Never had a Filipino sparring partner for Manny Pacquiao?

MK: Not to the best of my recollection.

BoxingScene.com: Is the statement the extent of your actions in this matter, or is there any further legal action being considered?

MK: No, we're not going to sue anybody over it, because, No. 1, it's a phantom sparring partner and the first ammendment gives a lot of leeway to the media.

This is unfortunate that they have to fabricate stories, but I don't foresee any lawsuit coming from this at this point.
