Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told the Los Angeles Times that it was "ridiculous" for Top Rank to push so hard for a showdown between Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao. Schaefer says the fighter Pacquiao should be facing is Shane Mosley. He points to Antonio Margarito knocking Cotto out last July, and Mosley knocking out Margarito in January. While all of that is true, Arum could point to Cotto winning a decision over Mosley in 2007.

Mosley had sent out a press release two weeks ago, stating that he would meet Pacquiao at 144-pounds and take a 60-40 split in Pacquiao's favor. Arum is looking to place Pacquiao-Cotto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 14.

"Cotto has a deep cut, Shane's ready to go," Schaefer said. "Sugar Shane Mosley is the best fighter in that division. He can punch more, he has more speed. Shane really wants this fight and is willing to make concessions. This is the fight people want."

Arum told the paper that Mosley is a possible option for Pacquiao - if he can't reach an agreement with Cotto.

"I hope to put it together this week, to get an agreement on terms," Arum said. "Shane's a terrific fighter, but for now he's the second choice. If we can't put together a Pacquiao-Cotto fight, we'll reach out to Shane."
