Ryan Burton catches up with Paulie Malignaggi to discuss his upcoming fight with fellow former champion Zab Judah, which is going to land in the Barclays Center in the fall. The two Brooklyn boxers will battle to determine which of them is the "king of Brooklyn."

BoxingScene.com had been advised that the "Battle of Brooklyn" is on. Former champions Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7KOs) and Zab Judah (42-8, 29KOs) have reached an agreement to fight each other in a welterweight showdown on December 7th at the Brooklyn's Barclays Center. Showtime will televise. Both fighters are coming off competitive defeats. Judah lost a twelve round unanimous decision to WBA/WBC junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia in April. Judah survived an eight round knockdown and came back to rock Garcia in the later rounds. Malignaggi lost a spirited twelve round split decision to Adrien Broner in June. The strong effort by Malignaggi spoiled Broner's anticipated big splash at 147-pounds.

Former undisputed light welterweight champion of the world and 2011 IBHOF entrée Kostya Tszyu, who had been training both Denis Lebedev and Alexander Povetkin in 2012 and 2013 - up until Lebedev’s painful defeat to Guillermo Jones, won’t attend his former protégé’s bout against Wladimir Klitschko, which will be conducted tomorrow at Olimpiyskiy Palace of Sports. “I won’t attend the show just because I haven’t been invited”, Tszyu told to RIA Novosti media agency. “Surely, I feel deep mortification. I have a feeling of being used and thrown out. It was my pleasure working with such talented guys as Denis Lebedev. Now I can teach other coaches technique and methodology that helped me to be what I am”.

Zab Judah (42-8, 29KOs) is hoping to land a hometown showdown with fellow former champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7KOs) - where the two of them would collide to prove which boxer is the "king of Brooklyn." The venue of choice for that match would be Brooklyn's Barclays Center. The venue has an exclusive deal with Golden Boy Promotions, who also promote both Malignaggi and Judah. Malignaggi is open to facing Judah, and ready to hit camp - but only for the right money. Malignaggi was not pleased with some of the early numbers being discussed and wants to get paid in the same manner that other fighters are being paid. Malignaggi specifically said that he wants to get paid in the same manner that "Al Haymon managed fighters are getting paid."

Former champion Zab Judah has faced both Danny Garcia (26-0, 16KOs) and Lucas Matthysse (34-2, 32KOs) in the ring. Judah, along with current IBF 147-pound champion Devon Alexander are the only two fighters to defeat Matthysse. Judah got off the deck in the tenth round to win a twelve round split decision over Matthysse in November of 2010. Judah lost a twelve round decision to Garcia in April of this year. Later tonight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Matthysse will challenge Garcia for the WBC/WBA junior welterweight titles.
