Unbeaten Cuban knockout artist Yuniel Dorticos (20-0 19 KOs) arrived in Paris, France Sunday for his battle against Youri Kayembre Kalenga (22-2) for the vacant WBA cruiserweight title.
The 30-year-old Dorticos is unfazed by having to fighting in his opponents backyard.
"I am excited and grateful to be given this opportunity to fight in Paris, France with my team and would like to thank my promoter Caribe Promotions for making this happen," Dorticos explained.
As for what the fans can expect, Dorticos said that he will live up to his nickname of the "KO Doctor" and they he will be bringing the title back to Miami Fla. where he lives.
"I will come out just like my past fights with excitement, aggressiveness, and power and I will be crowned the new WBA cruiserweight world champion.
"I will only say this about the fight, come Friday night Paris will tremble with my performance and all the fans will know that the new face of the cruiserweight division is here and his name is Yuniel "The KO Doctor" Dorticos," Dorticos told BoxingScene.com.
On Saturday, WBA cruiserweight super champion Dennis Lebedev will face IBF champion Victor Ramirez in an unification bout in Russia. The WBA has begun consolidating their champions and a clash between the winners of Lebedev-Ramírez and Dorticos-Kalenga will be ordered by the organization in the near future.
