With determination in achieving his goal, the slugger from San Mateo Atenco, William 'Camaron' Zepeda, is finishing up a tough training camp towards the confrontation with dangerous Filipino veteran Mercito Gesta (34-3-3, 17 KOs), which takes place on September 16 at The Commerce Casino and Hotel from Los Angeles, California.

Zepeda (28-0, 24 KOs) will risk his number two ranking under the WBA in the contest.

Zepeda is preparing in the heights of the Mexican mountains, specifically in the municipality of Jiquipilco, located about 3,000 meters above sea - working full steam under the supervision and aid of his team, which is comprised of his trainers Carlos Duarte and Jay 'Panda' Najar, his representative Jaime Picos, as well as Erik Mercado and his father Luis Manuel 'Pariente' Zepeda.

The unbeaten Mexican is hoping that a victory next week will propel his career to a showdown with WBA "regular" champion Gervonta 'Tank' Davis.

"As soon as destiny arrives, you have to enjoy the road," said Zepeda.

Gesta is also very motivated after pulling off an upset decision win over former world champion Joseph Diaz back in March.

The victory over Diaz came on the back of a dominant win over Joel Diaz Jr.

According to Gesta, he pushed for a fight with someone like Zepeda, who is highly regarded and ranked in the top ten by the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO.

"I knew this fight with William 'El Camaron' Zepeda was coming. I wanted this fight because he is an up-and-coming fighter in my weight division. I think this how all boxers should do it; not cherry-pick, but the best fighting the best. My family, my team and my newborn son are my biggest motivation. Watch me on September 16," Gesta said.
