BoxingScene.com recently caught up with promoter Felix "Tutico" Zabala of All Star Boxing Promotions. Zabala was in Carson, California to watch the HBO televised showdown between WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire (30-1, 19KOs) and Japanese veteran Toshiaki Nishioka.
Zabala had great interest in the fight because his boxer Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (22-2-1, 19KOs) won an eliminator last week against Jonathan Oquendo, which made him the mandatory challengfer to the WBO belt. Donaire retained the title with a ninth round stoppage of Nishioka.
"We want that [Donaire] rematch too but it is a lot more difficult to make," he continued pointing out that a rematch of their February 2012 fight probably isn't high on Donaire's list of priorities.
There is also some discussion about Donaire potentially moving up to the featherweight division.
"I read that Donaire might move up to featherweight in his next fight so there is a possibility that Wilfredo will be fighting for a vacant title. That is why I am here. There are a lot of possibilities," Zabala revealed.
