Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has continued to create headlines with some of his controversial comments in the last few days.
After months of silence, Wilder took to social media and created a firestorm of press clippings.
Wilder has been out of the ring since February, when he lost his WBC title by way of a seventh round stoppage at the hands of Fury at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
There were a rematch clause in the contract, with Wilder exercising his right to a third meeting.
The trilogy bout was postponed several times due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A few weeks ago, Wilder fired co-trainer Mark Breland.
Breland threw in the towel, during the seventh round of the Fury rematch, to prevent Wilder from taking further punishment.
In the last few days, Wilder questioned Breland's loyalty and also claimed the former trainer had allegedly spiked his water during the rematch.
During the last few months, in more than one interview, former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather offered to co-train Wilder for the trilogy with Fury.
In a recent interview, Wilder rejected Mayweather's offer - explaining that Floyd was always betting against him and is only extending his hand to create publicity.
"My thing is, every fighter I've fought, Floyd has bet against me. It ain't even for me to discuss. Even with Mark [Breland], I need [a trainer], Mark ain't on the team no more. Nobody had anything good to say about my trainers before, but all of a sudden, you need him," Wilder told Barbershop Conversations, according to The Daily Mail.
"All this time, and all of a sudden now? Why? I don't need anybody. I've made it all this far. Why do I need to change up anything? Of course, we need to replace, and you're going to see what it is. But nobody has reached out to me.
"It's publicity. When I see people do that stuff, it's for publicity. But to the offer [from Mayweather], thank you, but no thank you. I don't feel any love from that man. Their actions don't show that. It's fake love to me, but they know that themselves. They can't look me in the eyes and tell me they care about me and want to see me do well.
"They can't look me in the eyes and be sincere about that because I would feel them. They can't do that because they know it's not real. It's not. It's for publicity."
