As BoxingScene.com previously reported, WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (35-0, 34 KOs) is very eager to go into a unification in his second fight of the year.

Wilder wants the winner of the upcoming rematch between WBA/IBO/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18KOs) and former division king Wladimir Klitschko. No date has been set for that fight, but it is expected to happen within the first half of the year.

During a Showtime interview, Wilder said he was more likely to land Fury than Klitschko. He has serious doubts about Klitschko's willingness to fight him.

"I think Tyson [is more likely to fight me], even though he talks a lot I think he'll fight. I'll go to London for that. I’ll go to his territory for that one. It’s not going to go to the judges," Wilder said.

Before that happens, Wilder has to prevail in his upcoming defense against Artur Szpilka (20-1, 15 KOs) of Poland on January 16th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

After Fury pulled off his stunning win over Klitschko on November 28th, he ridiculed Wilder at the post-fight press conference and said he was nothing more than a basketball player who was playing the role of a novice boxer.

Wilder is not overly impressed with Fury either. He said he offered the British fighter the opportunity to face him last summer and Fury's team turned him down in favor of waiting out for the mandatory Klitschko fight.

"He's just a tall guy. He don't have no power. He likes to act a fool in the ring, which I like to as well. He likes to have fun. I like to have fun in the ring, but I knock them out," Wilder said. "I can be a tennis player, a golf player and even a soccer player. When it come down to getting into that ring on the night of that fight, all that goes out of the window on what kind of player I am. I'm the heavyweight champion of the world."

"I offered him to fight me. I offered him to be the first guy that I defended my title against. Maybe they forget about that. They wasn’t ready. They didn’t want that fight. They wanted Klitschko."
