It’s déjà vu all over again for Carlos Molina. The squat lightweight prospect returns to the Convention Center in Pharr, Texas for his second straight fight, once again appearing on Telefutura Solo Boxeo.

There is nothing wrong with either scenario, as it only helps the unbeaten Californian develop a fan base outside of his immediate hometown.

What is of concern is that the 5’6” boxer is once again at a considerable height disadvantage, this time giving away three inches as he faces 5’9” Marcos Jimenez in the scheduled 10-round main event.

Both fighters made weight for the televised headliner, each weighing in at the 135 lb. divisional limit.

Molina (16-0-1, 7KO) attempts to win his third straight since surprisingly fighting to an eight-round draw against journeyman Juan Montiel last August. Each of Molina’s past four contests have gone to the scorecards, including his 10-round decision over 5’10” Angino Perez this past March.

The Dominican-born Jimenez (18-3, 12KO) has fought almost exclusively in Puerto Rico, though enters this fight on the heels of an unsuccessful stateside debut. A trip to Las Vegas earlier this year resulted in a violent knockout loss to red hot prospect Diego Magdaleno.

All three of Jimenez’ losses have come inside the distance, though he managed to avenge an upset knockout loss to Edel Ruiz with a split decision win a year later.
