30-Day Weights: Jose Ramirez 153-Pounds, Viktor Postol 147-Pounds

The 30-day weights are in for the postponed clash between the super lightweight champion of the World Boxing Council, Jose Carlos Ramírez, and former world champion Viktor Postol, who is the mandatory challenger.

The fight, which was postponed twice, will take place on August 29 in the Bubble of the MGM Grand Conference Center in Las Vegas. The fight will be carried by ESPN.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the show had to be postponed again and again, but both boxers are motivated to finally return to the ring.

Ramirez (25-0, 17 KOs), 27-years-old, of Avenal, California, unified two 140-pound world titles, adding the WBO title, when he scored a knockout in the sixth round over Maurice Hooker on July 27 of last year.

For his part, Postol (31-2, 12 KOs), 36, beat Mohamed Mimoune in Las Vegas on April 27 of  last year in a final eliminator. The fight against Ramirez is likely the last chance for Postol to capture a major world title.

Postol previously held the WBC title when he knocked out Lucas Matthysse, but then lost the belt, by twelve round decision, to Terence Crawford.

Ramírez and Postol, showing their commitment and professionalism, and were firmly within their regulated limits for the WBC's 30-day weight requirements, demonstrating that they are in superb condition. Ramirez registered in at 153-pounds, while Postol was lighter at 147-pounds.

"easily within"??! That's stretching it a bit however 9.?% with 30 days to go is no cause for concern.

[QUOTE=millcitymauler;20682231]I don’t know what’s so funny - the official WBC rule states you can’t weigh more than 10% over the limit at 30 days. That would be 14 pounds, and JR is at 13. Personally, I don’t like the rule,…
