HOLLYWOOD, FL – Former world champion and 1992 United States Olympian Raul Marquez is the latest addition to the elite stable of boxers promoted by Seminole Warriors Boxing Promotions Inc., it was announced today.“Raul Marquez is a true warrior and one of boxing's most exciting fighters, and we are excited to be part of his team as he chases after another world championship in 2007,” said Leon Margules, Executive Director of Seminole Warriors Boxing Promotions Inc.  “Raul is a tough out for anyone in this game, and he's been looking better than ever, in the gym and in the ring.”Marquez' first bout under the Seminole Warriors banner will take place in early 2007 at a date and site to be determined.

Born in Reynosa, Mexico, Raul Marquez (38-3, 27 KOs) now makes his home in Houston, Texas, where he has been the city's fistic hero for over a decade.  A member of the 1992 US Olympic team, “El Diamante” duplicated his amateur success in the pros as he won the IBF junior middleweight title with a ninth round TKO of Anthony Stephens in 1997.  He would defend the title twice before losing it to Yory Boy Campas later that year, but since then he has compiled a record of 10-2 with 1 no contest, with the only losses coming to Jermain Taylor and Fernando Vargas.  3-0 with three knockouts in 2006, Marquez – who has also garnered rave reviews as a color commentator for HBO Latino and NBC – is ready for big things in 2007.
