According to Dmitriy Salita, the promoter for heavyweight contender Otto Wallin, his fighter is motivated to work his way back to a rematch with Tyson Fury.

Last September, Wallin was very close to shocking the world when one of his punches opened up a severe cut above Fury's right eye. A second would open up a few rounds later.

Fury, who ultimately won a twelve round unanimous decision, was a bloody mess and there was serious concern that ringside officials would stop the fight - which in turn would give Wallin a TKO win.

Since that bout, Fury captured the WBC heavyweight title in February, when he stopped Deontay Wilder in the seventh round.

Wallin was scheduled to face former champion Lucas Browne in March, but withdrew with a foot injury. He was also hit with a minor illness, which he believes may have been the result of the coronavirus after losing all sense of taste and smell.

The 29-year-old fighter is feeling well at the moment and hopes to resume his training by May.

"Otto is in New York now. He is recovering and doing physiotherapy at home for his foot," Salita told Sky Sports.

"He will be ready to get back to normal training in the beginning of May. He has had a challenging few months with the foot injury and then coronavirus, but he is in good spirits and now in good health physically.

"Once things get back to normal, we will schedule him for a return to the ring. Tyson Fury is the king of the division. Outside of him, it's wide open and I believe Otto is the best of the pack. Once he gets two or three comeback fights, he will be truly ready for the Fury rematch."
