This Saturday night, undefeated welterweight Vergil Ortiz (19-0, 19 KOs) will return to the ring in a fight that was postponed on numerous occasions.

Ortiz will challenge WBA 'regular' champion Eimantas Stanionis for the WBA "regular" belt at the AT&T Center in San Antonio Texas. The event will be streamed on DAZN.

“I was dealing with rhabdomyolysis. It came from me having Covid from a long time ago. So I was suffering from long COVID, but we’ve been doing a tremendous amount of recovery, we’ve implemented it into my daily life every single day, twice a day sometimes. And I feel good. This is the best I’ve felt in a very long time,” Ortiz explained to Bro Bible.

Later this month, a major welterweight fight will take place when undefeated boxers Errol Spence and Terence Crawford collide for the WBA, IBF, WBO, WBC world titles. Absent the possibility of a draw, the winner will become the undisputed world champion.

The winner of the upcoming fight between Stanionis and Ortiz will become the mandatory challenger to the Spence-Crawford winner.

Ortiz will be watching the fight with a lot of interest - and he's not fully sure which boxer will come out on top.

“You know, at first I thought Crawford was going to win, but then I thought Spence was going to win, and Crawford then Spence. I’ve been flip flopping a lot. And every time I think about it, I think of new outcomes. I don’t know. It’s kind of hard. I could even say that it might be a draw," Ortiz said.
