It was announced last month that Andy Vences (23-2-1) will return to the ring on June 19th against Jono Carroll (19-2-1).

The fight will be part of a Triller pay-per-view card that is headlined by Teofimo Lopez’s mandatory title defense against George Kambosos Jr.

The 29-year-old Vences will look to bounce back from his July split decision loss to Luis Alberto Lopez Vargas in Las Vegas.

“Jono is a tough, tough Irish fighter that is always in tip top shape,” said Vences. “He is no walk in the park. He has a very similar record to mine with only 2 defeats that were close competitive fights!”

Vences has lost two of his past three fights and is looking at this as a must win fight.

Jono on the other hand has won three of his last four fights with his two professional losses coming against former champion Tevin Farmer and Maxi Hughes.

“I am in another crossroads fight. Whoever prevails moves forward in their career! The difference in this fight will be my ring IQ and my power. I will be using his aggression against him. I need to make sure to take it round by round, adjust when needed, and perform spectacularly as I always do,” Vences told BoxingScene.com.

The past 6 fights of Vences’ career have gone the distance and the super featherweight contender doesn’t expect anything different against Jono.

“Finishing the fight early would be great but realistically he is one of the toughest fighters from Ireland at 130 pounds and hasn't been KO’d in his career,” said Vences.
