Over the past two years undefeated junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan (28-0, 17 KOs) has called out some of boxing's biggest names to no avail. While those efforts have been unsuccessful, his efforts in the ring have earned him the #1 spot in the latest rankings put out by the WBO.

It appears that WBO junior middleweight champion Sergei Dzinzurik will move up to middleweight in March to face Sergio Martinez. Team Martirosyan hopes the Ukrainian fighter will honor the WBO's rankings and grant Martirosyan a fight immediately after the Martinez bout.

Martirosyan who is based out of Glendale, Calfornia, is looking to return to the ring next month and is patiently waiting for the title shot he has been craving.

"I'm ranked #1 in the world by the WBO, #6 by the WBC, and #4 by the IBF and WBA.  After my next fight I am confident my title shot will come soon," he said.  "Dzinzurik is a great champion. I am sure he will honor his mandatory  and give me a crack at his belt."

An announcement on Martirosyan's next fight will come shortly.
